About the Programme

Course Leaders
Sekar Shanmugam
Sekar has spent the majority of his 30-year career working in companies like HP and Maxis in leadership roles. His experience includes among others, managing business units with full P&L, sales and operational responsibilities, guiding his organisation through the 1997 Asian financial crisis and leading the integration efforts in Malaysia during the merger of two global IT giants in 2001. As Director of Service Delivery at Hewlett-Packard Malaysia, he led his organisation to win the Computer World Malaysia "Best Support & Services" inaugural award in 2001 and again in 2002 against other industry IT giants. In 2007, Sekar moved from the technology sector to work for a Khazanah Nasional agri-business start-up. As Director of Sales & Marketing, he spotted a gap in the market and led the creation of a new brand of packed fresh vegetables - probably a first in South East Asia in the targeted market segment. He joined Maxis, a leading telco in Malaysia in 2010 as General Manager and Head of the Corporate mobility and fixed product business unit. Sekar holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Malaya and an MBA from the University of Cambridge.
Darren Lo
Darren is a seasoned HR leader with 16 years of diverse industry experience, having served in senior HR roles across sectors like industrial, banking, telco, healthcare, property, oil & gas and HR Consultancy, both in local and multinational companies. Most recently the Head of HRBP for Sime Darby Industrial, Darren led a regional team supporting Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei. He is also the co-author of Excel for HR, a practical guide on data-driven decision-making for HR and business leaders. Darren brings with him 10 years of solid HR partnering experience to the room. As a speaker and trainer, he has trained hundreds of HR professionals, people managers and business owners on impactful topics like high-performance culture, situational leadership, behavioural interviews and HR transformation. Darren holds a First Class (Hons) Degree in Human Resource Management from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).
